Mario Lanza - A Life In Pictures
I am delighted
to announce a unique and exciting new addition to the list of Mario Lanza
Biographies. MARIO LANZA – A LIFE IN PICTURES is the first ever pictorial
history of Mario’s life and career, a stunning compilation of almost 200
photos and illustrations chosen from Terry Robinson’s private collection.
The book was published in hardback by Robert Hale, London in May 2004
at £25 sterling. In keeping with Terry’s wishes, royalties from the sale of
the new work will go to the British Mario Lanza Society and Educational
Foundation.
Working on
MARIO LANZA – A LIFE IN PICTURES has been a joy from start to finish.
The book is divided into five chapters, each with a brief introduction
followed by photographs and captions in chronological sequence.
Many of the extremely rare photos are appearing in print for the very
first time. All are wonderful and
truly capture that special charisma that was uniquely Mario Lanza’s. I also taped Terry’s reminiscences of the people captured
in the pictures and many of his comments have been incorporated into the
accompanying text. This book is a
tribute not only to the greatest romantic tenor of all time but also to Terry
Robinson, an extraordinary man who played such an importance part in Mario’s
life and career.

MARIO LANZA: SINGING TO THE GODS
A new paperback version of Derek's book is due to be released in the UK in August 2006. This new edition has all new photos, again many before unpublished and drawn from the private collection of Mario's close friend, Terry Robinson and his niece, the former actress Dolores Hart.
Included amongst these pictures are photographs taken at Mario and Betty's wedding on 13 April 1945.
The book will retail in the UK at £14.99, however members of the BMLS will be able to purchase this book for £10.00 and Derek will once again, be in attendance at our Get-together in October.
